This was my first time seeking to hire a private chef. I am someone that likes to partake in all aspects of planning for any event, even to the smallest detail, so finding the right chef to cater my 10th year anniversary party was a must. I stumbled upon Chef Gilleum, and let me tell you, I am thankful that I did.
At first glance, most noticeably was the number of 5 star reviews he’s acquired. Reaching out to him was a no brainer. Once I requested a quote, within an hour or less (if I recall correctly), I heard from him. My anxiety level immediately decreased.
The level of professionalism, understanding and his calming nature is exactly what I needed, and what anyone needs for any event especially if your expectations are high like mine. Every question I had was answered promptly, no matter the time. This is something I experienced from him, from the very beginning to the very end of this journey.
Chef Gilleum took the time to come up with a menu that my partner and I were happy with. I never felt rushed, brushed off, if anything I found him to be as invested as myself in getting things right.
Once we had the menu locked in, we did a tasting with him. I have to say his food on this day was WOW. On point delicious very fulfilling. By the end of the tasting I was stuffed — this is as good as it speaks volumes on the portion size.
The day of the event, his team and him arrived early. Every individual on this team was incredible! Respectful, light hearted, they made me feel completely at ease. Food was INCREDIBLE! My guests are still talking about it.
During the dinner service we did have a mishap with my table, it appears the legs were not secured well by the coordinators (NOT Chef Gilleum and Team’s fault) so my table completely collapsed right after the first course. As you can imagine this was disappointing.
Before I knew it Chef Gilleum and his team come out and take care of the situation!! They clear everything up, wash anything that needed to get washed, they replaced the table cloth etc… they took care of EVERYTHING without myself, my partner or our help needing to ask them to do so.
This is the level of service he provides and the level of service we all deserve at any event. Chef Gilleum I could not be more thankful.
As someone of the LGBTQ+ community, I could not recommend you enough. Your respectful, welcoming nature and attention to detail are admirable.

I went on Thumbtack just to see if a caterer would be possible as that was too many to cook for - for me personally - and Gill got back to me instantly. What I loved was his promptness in every question and request I had - he started our conversation saying he’d work with my budget so I was immediately set at ease. I spoke to other caterers for quotes but he was the most persistent with a sincere interest in doing our party. He has a great variety of food choices - perfect for what I was looking for in a walking/standing light dinner. Mini beef tacos, bbq pork sliders with an amazing sauce, pot stickers which was also a favorite, chicken skewers and mini turkey sandwiches - Caesar salad and vegetable platter. The menu offered something for every taste. So many at the party asked for his card and asked me where I found him. And as an added bonus - we really enjoyed meeting him - he’s very personable and comfortable in our kitchen. He wowed the guests by introducing the menu beautifully. We had the best ribs I ever tasted and don’t get me started on the sauces… the chili apple smoked ribs were perfectly cooked and falling off the bones. No sauce was needed but there was plenty to choose from. Chili apple, sundevil, maple bacon and chinese 5 spice. We also had country slaw, cornbread, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, bbq chicken and more. You get so much food for your money. I had a party of 6 and we had leftovers that we all ate for 3 days. We were all happy, full and sleepy. Gill is a great guy and a great Chef. He fit right in with my outrageous friends and family. He started out as our Chef but by the time the night ended Gill was/is a friend and a member of my extended family. He is my brother that lives in Las Vegas. So if you want the best food of your life then hire Gill.”
